Workshops at Judith M

  • Jan 24th 5p-7p - Jan 25th 11a-4p
Judith M Millinery Supply House 115 E. Main St. La Grange, KY 40031
This course starts off with a tour of the Hat Shop where you will see up close raw materials and items used to create hats from scratch. You will understand the uses of the different hat blocks and the different types of straw. During the course you will wet and steam the straw to form over a hat block to make a shape of a hat. We will be blocking both the crown and the brim separately. Once dry, we will then hand sew the crown and brim together. It will be finished with wiring on the brim, a sweat band in the crown and any embellishments one chooses. Each person will walk away with a beautiful hat that they can wear with pride.
    $485 per person 2-day class
Straw materials for workshop are an additional cost. You can estimate between $25-$50. All other materials are included in the course’s cost: hat forms, rope, sizing, joiners, and wiring. I would like all attendees to bring embellishments, a sewing kit that includes needles, thread, pins, scissors, thimble, elastic, hammer, nails, tacks, pliers and a variety of thread colors.
Please note, due to preparing materials for each student ahead of time, there are no refunds, but can be transferred to another person.
