Events in JUNE

SUMMER TEA - June 21 1pm - 4pm at the United Methodist Church hall LaGrange IN 46761 (2 blocks west of our shop) Tickets are $17.50 per person.

THEME - A Day at the Royal Ascot
Our speaker is Eia Radosavljevic and our theme is "A Day Trip to Royal Ascot". Eia has ventured across the pond to attend the Ascot a number of times and will regale us with her stories. To get into the theme everyone must dress the part, remembering that the hat is the focus. Since the Ascot began in 1711 there are many decades and styles of dress from which to choose. Dress as though you were invited to sit in the Royal Enclosure and meet Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.

To get ideas and for more history on the Ascot visit these websites -

Our caterer of the past several years, Chef Vogts is honoring us with this one last Tea. They have moved to the Nashville, TN area and along with a daughter, opened a restaurant, called Nick of Thyme. http://www.nickofthyme.net

Reserve a white linen clad table for your group of friends and enjoy a 4-course tea created to please the eye and the tastebuds. The formal Tea is graciously hosted by our local hat enthusiast volunteers. We would love to have you join us.

NOTE: The Thursday before the Ascot themed Tea, June 19, you can bring your hat to the shop and trim it to go with your outfit. Anna and Judith will assist you in creating your dream Ascot hat. The shop is brimming with flowers, veilings, feathers and ribbons just waiting for the chance to top your chapeau. Bring your hat (this is not a day to make the hat, we are trimming hats only) and any other trims you may want to incorporate. You do not need to register for this class. Anna and Judith will be available all day offering advice and suggestions on "how-tos".

So that we can close at our regular time of 5 o'clock please arrive before 3pm to allow enough time to finish.

NEW ITEMS

TRIMS We have added new millinery flowers and now have 11 different flowers with a variety of color choices.

And a number of new feather trims, will be added in the next month so check back periodically to see what is new.

STRAW BRAIDING New braiding in raffia and wheat straw are now available. They will be found under BRAIDS in the "Hat Making Materials" category. The raffia is 7-8 millimeter width in natural and black. The straw braid comes in two widths, 5-6 millimeter and 7-8 millimeter, and colors of natural, black and copper penny.

HATBOXES Deeper and larger hatboxes are always a request from customers and we have the large sizes one dreams of. These are not always available so we encourage you to grab them now. A set of three in sizes 16", 18" and 20" by 9" deep. (Regular hatboxes are 7" deep) By the box we have sizes 20", 22" and 24" (also 9" deep).

Housekeeping
When ordering by credit card you may notice we now ask for the Card Security Code (CSC) along with the number, expiration date, name on the card and billing address. The CSC is usually a 3 or 4 digit number, which is not part of the credit card number.

Our credit card system performs an address verification for your safety and to prevent fraud, thus our reason for wanting the billing address for the credit card. The CSC provides further verification that the order is being placed by the cardholder. These extra steps help protect our customers credit.

For American Express the CSC number is a four digit number appearing on the front of the card above the account number. For Visa and MasterCard, the code is a three digit number appearing on the signature strip on the back of your card.

For more information about the CSC as well as images showing where the CSC is located, see the CSC page at VeriSign. http://www.verisign.com/support/payflow/cardSecurityCode.html

Classes
We've been having great fun with students and instructors coming in for hat classes. Comments from students are positive and enthusiastic. The instructors tell us the 2-day intensive class is a great vacation break for them, because the students are eager to learn and have a devotion to the task. The creative energy and swapping of ideas this generates makes it worth the extra hours for staff and bring us fresh passion for our work.

Check the classes category for the schedule. We try to offer one class every month because that is all we can handle as a staff. November and December are presently classless but will be filling soon. Always, let us know your ideas for workshops. We want to offer a variety for everyone's millinery interests.

warm regards,
