May Newsletter

May greetings and a merry spring to one and all,

I realize all of you are busy, most wearing more than one hat each day, so I do not wish to intrude unneccessarily. There are a few new items that I think you will want to know about and will try to keep this brief.

A new product bulletin: we now have two types of straw fabric by-the-yard.

Quingmay ayos is totally new for the U.S. market this year. It is similar to sinamay in appearance but has more brilliance. Very light and airy. 36" wide, $7.25 per yard, natural only.

Raffia in a light weight weave, 27" wide and $7.95 per yard, natural only.

They can be viewed by going to our homepage at http://www.judithm.com, click on Products and then click on Straw Fabrics. If you would like samples, e-mail a request, include your physical address, and we will send swatches of each to you.

More of our products now have images. We have been concentrating on getting images in place, because having something to look at is a big help, I know. Just not a favorite task. Those of you that sent e-mail to let us know the images were not coming up when clicking on a product should know it was not a fault of the system, rather my own delay. Of course, not everything has an image yet, with over 500 items to put on it takes a while.

For students/teachers: a basic supply kit is now available. Included are:
*2 yards heavy buckram, 30" wide
*5 yards bias crinoline tape, white or black
*5 yards #19 covered wire, white or black
*1 dozen wire joiners
*2 yards blocking cord

The kit cost is $16.00 and can be ordered on-line, through the print catalog or by telephone.

Our spring sale on foundations is still on the month of May. Receive 15% off on orders of buckram, crinoline, wet and shape, and Timtex foundations.

We continue to add more links to other sites for your convenience. A recent addition is on-line classes in hat making for dolls at http://www.DollStreetDreamers.com/thedollshop.htm Because of the requests from doll hat makers for the vintage braidings by the yard, these may now be purchased in yards rather than hanks. Prices vary but most are $1.00 per yard. We will send braid samples upon request.

Best wishes to you from the staff at Judith M,

Judith Mishler
