We have found the best new product in this century (at least our staff thinks it is) A plastic joiner that fits all the wire sizes and Brimlock. The plastic joiner is milky clear in color and comes in two sizes. Size No. 1 will fit all three of our brim wire gauges, #19, #21 and #23. Simply slide the wire ends into joiner and overlap. Apply heat from a gun or flame and watch the joiner shrink and grip the wire.
For Brimlock, we have a Size No. 2 which will accommodate both the 1.50mm and 1.35mm gauges. The process is identical. Overlap wire ends inside the joiner and apply heat. It really does hold as I can attest to, having been tripped up by a test wire. The joiner did not release!
These are the same price as our brass joiners, $1.50 per dozen, $12.95 per gross.
And we do have a third hat class scheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 28-29, 2002. I am late in letting you know and apologize.
MILLINERY WEEK END GETAWAY III
Friday and Saturday, June 28 & 29, 2002
If you ever wondered how a straw hat is made, come and join us June 28 & 29, at Judith M's in LaGrange, IN, and learn how it is done. In the workshop, you'll learn how to block, shape and trim two straw hats. One hat will be made using vintage Swiss straw braid and the other hat will be made with an open weave straw body, both provided by Judith M. These great hats can be completed during the two day class, ready to wear this summer.
The shop is located in LaGrange, 3 hours east of Chicago and 4 hours west of Cleveland just off of I-80. For lodging, there are a number of hotel chains nearby or, you may choose to stay at the local B&B set in an old Victorian house.
Contact LaGrange County Visitors Bureau at 1-800-254-8090 for a map and information packet.
Still a few tickets left for our Summer Tea, Saturday, June 22, Noon - 3pm. The program will be given by Ms. Lisa Farrell, owner of Ooh-La-La Millinery Shop located in Highland Park, Illinois. Ms. Farrell will be using three millinery shop vignettes to show us how to buy a hat. A four-course tea will be served between vignettes. Tickets are $15.00. The food is delicious, the speaker superb and friendships, priceless. Do join us.
Call or stop by 9:30am - 5pm Monday through Friday, until 4pm on Saturdays. ( We will be staying open later the Saturday of the Tea)
Warm Regards,
