To foster an understanding of the straw arts in all of its complexities, through various exhibitions of its cultural significance, folklore, history, technique.

Excellent virtural tour of straw hats and bonnets from 1800s and 1900s.

Hat Museum in the city of Utrecht, The Netherlands. A small private museum displaying vintage hats and contemporary hats from the most noted Dutch designers.

History of Straw hats and Felt hats furnishes enlightening detail, beginning with interesting accounts of dress hats in the early years, through the roaring 20's gangster fedoras, includes features on golf and movie celebrities' hats, and highlights some original and contemporary hatmakers.

Exhibits are available for museums as well as smaller venues in galleries, schools and libraries. Educational programs are available for students of all ages. Presentations and workshops can be incorporated into classroom curriculum and designed to support learning objectives.

Bad Homburg just north of Frankfurt (Not to be confused with Hamburg) is worth a stop to see the Hutmuseum. This museum has a collection of 400 years of headwear, some that once topped famous heads. Hats are displayed along with details on the fashions of its periods and there's a display of the technique of the hatter's craft. The museum was inspired by a high school teacher who donated his own collection to start it in this, the native land of the "homburg."

Norma Shephard is the founder and director of a travelling museum that works closely with community groups, fund-raising organizations and seniors facilities to educate and entertain through exhibits and fashion shows of vintage and antique costume. Opened in 1983, the Hat Making Museum is set up on 1.500 sq.m , in the Jules BLANCHARD old hat industry. Besides the public rooms, a unique centre of documentation about hats is accessible to students, professionals and researchers.

This museum documents the art of straw-plaiting and the various products made by this technique, a mainstay of Tuscan tradition since the 14th century. Museum is located in Signa, near Florence, Italy.

Arranged in a heritage building, the exhibition presents a wide variety of objects made of straw along with the tools and utensils required for the various techniques.

Tüskés Tünde, the curator of the Straw-Treasury International Straw Art Museum in Zengovárkony, Hungary is launching a hat competition.
